Francis B. 'Ben' Kolbenschlag

Francis B. "Ben" Kolbenschlag, 94, Hollidaysburg, passed away Saturday at Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg. 

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Frank G. and Agatha (Rhodes) Kolbenschlag. 

He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline K. Goden; and a brother, Richard Kolbenschlag.

Francis was a graduate of Shippensburg State Teachers College and had a master's degree from the University of Maryland. He was a U.S. Air Force WWII and Korean War veteran and he retired from The National Security Agency in Ft. Meade, Md.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg. Ben volunteered many years at the Blair County Genealogical Society of Hollidaysburg. He played in a men's softball league for many years and enjoyed playing golf well into his 80s.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 at Calvary Cemetery, 2417 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona. Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.
